Occupy DC: White House in 'smoke bomb' alert

A suspected smoke bomb has been thrown over the fence of the White House as hundreds of Occupy protesters gathered outside during a rally.

President Barack Obama and the First Lady were reportedly out with friends for Michelle Obama's 48th birthday.

The protesters had gathered at the Capitol Building earlier in the day before marching towards the White House to demonstrate against what they see as the corrupting influence of money in politics.
