President Obama: Situation in Syria is heartbreaking

US President Barack Obama has said the situation in Syria is heartbreaking but that there is no simple solution.

Mr Obama said for the US to take military action, unilaterally, as some have suggested, or to think that somehow there was some simple solution was a mistake.
