Syria: Paul Wood on the growing conflict

BBC correspondent Paul Wood has been to Syria four times - three times to the city of Homs. With each visit, the violence has escalated.

"Last November, when we first went into Homs, it was just becoming militarised," he says. Initially he and his crew were sceptical about reports of massacres. Now, he says, the situation is "just a hair's breadth away from spinning out of control".

Speaking to the BBC's Katty Kay, Paul Wood says sectarian violence has not yet erupted - but the threat is never far from people's minds in a large and increasingly fractured country.
