Democratic convention: Obama to pitch for second term

Advisors to President Obama have said that he will spell out a 'clear economic path' for the US when he addresses the Democratic national convention in North Carolina.

Accepting his party's re-nomination, Mr Obama will attempt to reach out both to undecided voters and his party base.

Tens of millions of Americans are expected to watch the speech on prime-time television, in what's being seen as a key moment ahead of the presidential election in November.
