Boston Muslims on the marathon-attack suspects

The BBC in the days after the bombings at the city's marathon, but before the FBI released photographs and videos that led to the two suspects being identified.

Students at Northeastern University told us how they desperately hoped the perpetrators would not be Muslim. Many of them, along with other Muslim-Americans the BBC heard from, were worried about a backlash if they were.

US authorities believe Dhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarneav were behind the blasts which left three people dead and more than 170 injured.

The brothers are Muslim. But they are also ethnic Chechens and had lived in the US for more than a decade, with Dhokhar becoming a US citizen in 2012.

The BBC spoke to some of the same Muslim students as they attended an interfaith service on Sunday night to find out if they think the suspects' complex identity and background will influence how they are viewed by Americans.
