Canadian PM 'shocked' by Lac-Megantic train disaster

The Canadian prime minister has described the explosion of a train carrying crude oil in the town of Lac-Megantic as a "devastating disaster".

Stephen Harper told a news conference that his thoughts, and those of all Canadians, were with the families and friends of the victims.

At least one person has died after a runaway train exploded, destroying dozens of buildings and forcing the evacuation of 1,000 people.
