China defends Hong Kong over Edward Snowden case
China has defended itself after a senior US official rebuked it for failing to hand over the former intelligence analyst Edward Snowden.
US Deputy Secretary of State William Burns said he was "disappointed" with Hong Kong's handling of the incident, which "undermined our effort to build trust".
State councillor Yang Jiechi said the Hong Kong's SAR government had dealt with the Snowden case "in accordance with the law", and that its actions were "beyond reproach".
