Al Sharpton: 'This is a movement, not an anger fit'

Civil rights leader Rev Al Sharpton has said vigils planned after Florida neighbourhood watchman George Zimmerman was acquitted over the killing of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed black teenager, are not an "anger fit".

Mr Sharpton said the rallies due to take place on Saturday represented a social movement and that people were "vulnerable" to attacks after the verdict.

Speaking outside the US Department of Justice in Washington DC, Mr Sharpton called on the government to resume its investigation into whether Martin's civil rights were violated during the fatal confrontation.
