Why farmers are swapping tobacco for chickpeas

Hummus is a familiar and traditional food throughout Europe and the Middle East.

Now the biggest hummus producer in the US says it needs more chickpeas to keep pace with growing demand.

This could be a lifeline for tobacco farmers in Virginia who are struggling to make ends meet as government handouts shrink and the number of smokers decreases.
