Three friends return $40,000 found stuffed in sofa

Three friends in New York who found $40,000 (£24,000) stuffed inside a second-hand sofa they had bought have returned the money to its previous owner, a 91-year-old widow.

Reese Werkhoven, Cally Guasti and Lara Russo bought the sofa from a charity shop for $20 and found the cash in several envelopes.

The name of the owner was on one of the envelopes.

When they returned the money, the elderly woman rewarded the roommates with $1,000.
