Gaza conflict: Kerry says both sides must compromise
US Secretary of State John Kerry says it is important to "make life better" for Palestinians but stressed it will require compromise on both sides.
Speaking to BBC's HARDtalk, he called for a "bigger, broader approach" to the "underlying issues of two states" in the region.
He recognised the need for crossings to be opened and said Palestinians needed guarantees of "a better life and greater freedom".
However he also emphasised the importance of security for Israel and said Hamas would need to give up its rockets.
