US mid-terms: Firearms star in campaign adverts

This election season candidates have been spending millions of dollars on television advertising to try to win or hold onto seats in the US Congress.

Guns have been recurring props in many of the most successful adverts, as candidates look to bolster their perceived toughness or fire at objects of derision.
