US mid-terms: How we're following Election Night

On Tuesday, US voters go to the polls for the 2014 mid-term elections. Every member of the House of Representatives and about one-third of the Senate are up for election.

The most important story is the battle for control of the US Senate. Republicans have a majority in the House of Representatives - and are expected to gain more seats - and look to win the Senate as well.

Republicans need to gain six Senate seats in order to do so, and about a dozen races are close.
