Prince William meets Barack Obama at the White House

The Duke of Cambridge has met Barack Obama at the White House - telling the US President that in the excitement of Prince George's birth he forgot to check whether he was a boy or a girl.

Speaking to Mr Obama in the Oval Office, Prince William said he and his pregnant wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, were preparing for a "busy year" next year.

Prince William, who is in the US for a three-day visit, will later address the World Bank on wildlife crime.
