New York police turn backs on mayor at colleague's funeral

Some police officers have turned their backs on the mayor of New York at the funeral of Wenjian Liu, who was shot dead last month.

Many rank-and-file members of the New York Police Department (NYPD) resent Mr de Blasio's apparent sympathy for anti-police protesters this winter.

Dean Meminger, criminal justice reporter, NY1 told the BBC that the "NYPD Police commissioner did urge officers not to show disrespect".
