Matthew Dowd: Ted Cruz will be 'a disruptive force'
The race for the White House has begun. Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas became the first candidate to make it official by announcing he is running for president in 2016.
Mr Cruz is not considered a front-runner in this contest. Several rivals are also "exploring their options" and raising funds along the way.
ABC political consultant Matthew Dowd expects that Mr Cruz will cause a disruption for the pool of conservative's bidding for the nomination. "He's going to cause some candidates to go further right than they normally want to," Dowd explained to the BBC's Katty Kay.
