Why do so many Chinese students choose US universities?

It is the biggest academic migration in history: more than a quarter of a million students from China now attend colleges in the United States.

The most recent figures, from the 2013-14 academic year, show a third of all international students in the country hailed from China. This was a 17% increase on the previous year and represented the tenth consecutive year of rising numbers.
