Police 'pleased' at US Charleston church shooting arrest

A suspect in the killing of nine people at a historic African-American church in South Carolina has been arrested.

Officials earlier named 21-year-old Dylann Roof as the man they were looking for in connection with the shooting in Charleston.

Speaking to reporters, Charleston Police Chief Greg Mullen described the shooting as a "tragic, heinous crime."

"I am so pleased that we were able to resolve this case quickly... so that nobody else is harmed by this individual," he said.
