World must reach agreement over climate change, says Obama

US President Barack Obama has said the world must reach an agreement to cut carbon emissions while it still can.

Mr Obama told a meeting in Alaska of foreign ministers from nations with territory in the Arctic that climate change would "define the contours of this century".

He said a deal had to be struck in December at a UN summit in Paris because the climate was changing faster than efforts to combat global warming.
