California passes landmark right-to-die bill

California is to be the fifth US state to allow terminally-ill patients to end their lives legally.

Governor Jerry Brown has signed one of the most emotionally-charged bills of the year.

At least 20 states introduced aid-in-dying legislation this year, but none has become law.
