Ben Bernanke urges punishment of individual bankers

Former US Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke says that in order to determine the cause of the 2008 financial crash investigators should examine individuals rather than companies.

"I think it would have been better for the Department of Justice to focus more on individual decision making, rather than penalising firms as a whole," Mr Bernanke told the BBC's Laura Trevelyan.

Mr Bernanke ran the US Federal Reserve bank from 2006-2014, and chronicles his experiences in his new book, The Courage to Act.
