Canada election: The moment Canadian politics changed

After one of the longest campaigns in Canadian history, the election came to an abrupt and early end on Monday night.

Instead of the tight three-way race that many had predicted, the Liberal Party was declared the winner even before polls had closed on the Pacific coast.

The speed of the announcement - and the scale of the victory for Justin Trudeau's party - surprised many watching the election night coverage in a bar in Montreal.

The BBC's Franz Strasser was there to ask Canadians about the demise of Stephen Harper and the dawn of a new political era.
