Congressman: US needs clarity on political plan in Syria
US Defence Secretary Ashton Carter told Congress on Tuesday that more US special forces will be sent to Iraq and into Syria to battle so called Islamic State fighters.
He wouldn't reveal the exact number, but he said the troops would conduct raids and gather intelligence.
One of the US lawmakers who questioned Secretary Carter about the wisdom of such a plan was Democratic Congressman Seth Moulton, an Iraq War veteran himself.
Congressman Moulton tells the BBC's Katty Kay that what the US needs in Syria and Iraq is not more troops, but a long-term political plan to ensure peace in the region.
