California shooting: 'We should never think that this is normal'

Barack Obama has reiterated the need for tighter gun laws in the US, after 14 people were killed in a mass shooting at a social services facility in California.

Two heavily armed suspects - one male and one female - have been killed by police in a shootout.

Speaking to CBS, the US president said Americans should never think these type of shootings are "just something that happens in the ordinary course of events".
