US student trapped in Grand Canyon for five days

A student from Texas has been rescued by helicopter from near the Grand Canyon after she got lost in the desert.

Amber Vanhecke had planned to go hiking in the desert of northern Arizona, but her car ran out of fuel.

During the five-day ordeal she recorded video messages to loved ones, fearing that she wouldn't survive.

Eventually she was rescued after hiking seven miles to find a phone signal so she could contact the emergency services.
