US 'confident' in Syria strike on Iran-backed militias
The US defence secretary has said he is "confident in the target that we went after" in the first military action conducted under President Joe Biden.
The US military carried out an air strike targeting Iran-backed Iraqi militias in Syria, in response to attacks against its personnel.
Lloyd Austin told reporters that he had recommended the action.
"We know what we hit," he said.
