Real Madrid's new stadium will be designed in part by a season ticket holder at arch-rival FC Barcelona, it seems.

The Spanish football club's new Santiago Bernabeu stadium will be designed by a group led by a German firm, GMP Architekten, and includes Spanish architects Ribas & Ribas, ABC newspaper reports, external.

Josep Ribas, an architect at the Catalan firm, is a season ticket holder at FC Barcelona - a fact which proved a stumbling block for some of Real Madrid's directors according to news website The Local, external.

ABC says Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is determined to make the club's new 80,000 seat stadium the best in the world. It is due to be built by 2017 at a cost of £330m.
