What's popular and why

How did two friends from Florida start a US-wide race debate on Twitter?

Daniel Brack, who is white, and Josh Prickett, who is black, started tweeting each other using the hashtags, #IfIWasWhite, external and #IfIWasBlack, external. It started with jokes at each other's expense but to their surprise, it kick-started a heated discussion on race across the US.

#BBCtrending investigates.

Produced by Benjamin Zand.
