NUT: Strike action by teachers 'a last resort'

The two main teaching unions will consider an escalation of strike action over pay and pensions when they gather for their annual conferences over Easter.

Members of the National Union of Teachers and the NASUWT have already taken action over pensions changes and are angry about proposals for regional pay rates.

Speaking to the BBC, NUT leader Christine Blower insisted that strike action would be "a last resort" but said that teachers felt "very deeply" about their pensions.
