West End hit musical Sister Act is to open on the New York stage next year, it has been announced.
The show, based on the 1992 movie starring Whoopi Goldberg, will begin its run at the Broadway Theatre in March, producers have said.
Casting for the US production has not yet been announced.
The musical opened on the London stage last year and featured Goldberg as Mother Superior for a limited number of performances over the summer.
The star, who made her West End debut in the show, originally played the principal role of Deloris Van Cartier in the film.
On stage, the role of the singer who goes into hiding as a nun after witnessing a murder, is played by Patina Miller.
Goldberg helped to produce the musical, which was originally staged in California in 2006.
None of the musical numbers from the movie are used in the stage version due to copyright issues.
Performances on Broadway are due to start in March, with the public opening night on 20 April.
