The stars of 1990s sitcom Birds of a Feather are getting back together for a theatre show.

Pauline Quirke and Linda Robson will return as Essex sisters Sharon and Tracey, to be joined by Lesley Joseph as man-eating neighbour Dorien.

The sitcom ran for nine series from 1989 to 1998. The tour will take place next year after Quirke quits Emmerdale.

"We don't know where we're going to do it but we will be doing it - me, Linda and Lesley," Quirke said.

"We're just trying to work out whether we bring the story forward or leave it as we left it. But we were all 20 years younger looking then so will probably have to refresh it a bit."

Quirke has been in ITV1's Emmerdale for the past year, playing the mother of Jackson Walsh, who asked his mother to help him die after being paralysed in an accident.

She is due to leave the soap at the end of the year.
