Brit's David Joseph: We are back to where we were mid-eighties
Some of the world's biggest pop stars will gather at London's O2 arena later for the Brit Awards.
Will Gompertz went to meet the event's chairman David Joseph, boss of the UK arm of the globe-spanning Universal Music.
Mr Joseph said he believed British pop was in "an incredible place" creatively on the world stage.
"We are back to where we were mid-eighties," he said.
Emeli Sande is in the running for most prizes at the London ceremony, with four nominations including best female and best album.
There are also three nominations apiece for Mumford and Sons and Mercury Prize winners Alt-J.
Mumford and Sons will also be performing at the event, along with One Direction, Justin Timberlake, Taylor Swift and Robbie Williams.
