Glastonbury festival from above -177,000 festival goers will make it to the festival over the weekend - most of the ticket holders have arrived already as doors opened on Wednesday.

Sun on Thursday saw festival goers choosing different ways to cope, with one choosing a pink parasol as the way to go.

The first proposal of the festival saw Mark Goddard propose to his girlfriend Jane Shannon by persuading her to go up to the top of a viewing tower while his friends unfurled a huge "marry me" banner a couple of hundred yards away. Luckily she said yes.

Glastonbury was dry when the gates opened on Wednesday and there was a beautiful sunset for the early arrivals to watch.

At night you can see how Michael Eavis's dairy farm is transformed into a small city for the weekend.

Star of the night time is a 50-tonne fire-breathing mechanical spider with acrobats dangling from it and thousands of ravers surrounding it. The spider, which has a DJ booth in its belly, is the centrepiece of the Arcadia area.
