GBBO inspires baking, icing and piping

Ron Austin, 63, from Bygrave in Hertfordshire, made this cake for his granddaughter's christening. The cake is a lemon drizzle sponge, covered in a lemon curd cream, and topped with blueberries, lavender and caramelised nuts. It took around two hours to make.

Erlinda Esleyer, 41, from Ipswich in Suffolk baked this cake for a friend who has two pugs. She copied the cake from a photograph. It took Erlinda, around six hours to complete.

Annie Anstis, 60, lives in Truro, Cornwall. She made the cake for a friend who was getting married on the beach in Grenada. They actually wanted a dolphin theme, but she settled on a seaside theme instead.

Jennifer Elliott, 34, is from Dronfield in Derbyshire. Her roulade is based on one made on the Great British Bake Off and is made from chocolate and vanilla-flavoured mixtures, with the chocolate piped in to the vanilla mixture.

Grace Southall baked this cake for the Cwmsychbant County Show in Wales. She won the celebration cake category. It took her four days and nights to make.

Christine Adamson, 50, works as a nurse in Wearside, Sunderland. She baked this doctor's bag-themed cake for a colleague of hers who is retiring as a GP after more than 40 years. The cake is an ordinary Victorian sponge, which is layered up until it resembled the shape of a doctor's bag. It is then covered in buttercream fondant. It took Christine almost five hours to make.

Eilidh Robb, 21, from Edinburgh baked this Tour de France-themed cake for her father's 50th birthday. Dave is a keen cyclist, and went to see the Tour de France when it went through the UK in 2014. It took two days to make as she carved each piece of fondant, from the bicycle to the spots resembling a cyclist's jersey.

Annette Johansson-Steed, 40, from the Isle of Wight, made this Rapunzel cake for her daughter's birthday. It took her about two hours to make, although she concedes that the doughnuts were shop-bought.

Katie Lovegrove, 45, from Clapham in London made this cake for her six-year-old son. All in all, it took around seven hours to make.
