Cancer survival rates in UK lagging behind, study finds

Survival rates for cancer patients in the UK lag behind those in five other developed countries.

The new research, published in the medical journal the Lancet, compared patients in Canada, Australia, Sweden, Norway, Denmark and the UK, excluding Scotland.

It found late diagnosis of tumours was still a problem in Denmark and the UK, although progress is being made.

Dominic Hughes reports.
