How effective is breast cancer screening in the UK?

An independent review into the UK's breast screening programme is being carried out, after concerns were raised about the number of women being misdiagnosed.

Screening was first introduced here in 1988 and the NHS says it has saved thousands of lives.

The review's being led by the National Cancer Director for England, Professor Sir Mike Richards, who says he wants to settle the arguments.

He discussed his on BBC Breakfast with GP Dr Rosemary Leonard.
