London 2012: One-year countdown in pictures
London has been marking the one-year countdown to the start of the 2012 Olympic Games with various events and celebrations. Diver Tom Daley performed the first official dive at the Aquatics Centre, the latest venue completed, as part of the countdown celebrations.
Thousands of people gathered in Trafalgar square to soak up the atmosphere ahead of the Olympic countdown celebrations.
Prime Minister David Cameron got to grips with some of the equipment that will be used by athletes competing in the beach volleyball at Horse Guards Parade in London.
UK Minister for Sport and Olympics Hugh Robertson, chairman of London 2012 Organising Committee Lord Coe and British Olympian Colin Jackson celebrate one year to go by getting their footprints cast to mark the first steps on the way to London 2012 in front of a Eurostar train at St Pancras Station.
Lord Coe later joined Princess Anne, the Princess Royal, to unveil the Olympic medals during the "London 2012 - One Year To Go" ceremony in Trafalgar Square.
The 2012 medals were unveiled during the Trafalgar Square celebrations. As is Olympic tradition, the front shows Nike the goddess of victory, while the reverse has a design symbolising the River Thames and the London Games
