It was a night that saw a few surprises - including the Northern Irish police drama Blue Lights picking up the Bafta for best drama series, writes our culture reporter Helen Bushby.

But overall, the top awards for Britain's biggest night in television seemed to be equally split between some of the year's most popular shows - Mr Loverman, Baby Reindeer and Mr Bates vs the Post Office to name a few.

We're going to be ending our live coverage of this year's awards show, but you can breakdown all the results of the TV Baftas with our wrap of the winners and losers and see how the stars dazzled on the red carpet on a sweltering London night in our photo gallery.

Speaking to me backstage after her best actress win for her role in Industry, Marisa says she was “incredibly overwhelmed” and felt “grateful”.

She says she and the cast and crew had put their “hearts and souls” into the making of Industry, a series about young bankers making their way in the glamorous, and often cutthroat world of finance.

“We really just tried to find the humanity in these characters, and what it is that drives them,” she says.

She adds she'll be celebrating by going to find the people who wrote the show “and give them a big hug and say thank you”.

“They’re all here and I don’t think any of them were expecting it,” she says.

While the nominees celebrate their wins and commiserate their losses at the afterparty, it's now time for us to take stock of who tonight's big winner was.

BBC One drama Mr Loverman was the only show to receive two awards - both in the male acting categories.

Lennie James took home the leading actor prize while Ariyon Bakare nabbed the supporting gong.

The drama, adapted from Bernardine Evaristo's 2014 novel of the same name, explores the life of Britain's older Caribbean community through the perspective of a closeted gay Antiguan-Londoner.

Mr Loverman beat more popular dramas including Netflix's zeitgeist-capturing miniseries Baby Reindeer and ITV's agenda-setting drama Mr Bates Vs The Post Office.

Both took home one award each, with Jessica Gunning receiving the supporting actress award and Mr Bates winning in the limited drama category.

However, when awards from the Bafta TV Craft Awards - which were held two weeks ago - are taken into account, Baby Reindeer inches ahead with its two wins for best writer (drama) and best director in fiction.
