    Although we do not know yet the cause of the crash, Toronto Pearson International Airport had been experiencing many delays because of winter weather.

    Toronto has been recovering after back-to-back storms blanketed the city, with road conditions still bad in some places.

    Pearson had cancelled or delayed hundreds of flights over the weekend and into Monday,

    Two storms - one on Wednesday and one on Sunday - covered the city with a total of 30-50 centimeters.

    And high winds today whipped much of that snow into the air, causing flurries.

    According to CBS, at the time of crash there had been light snow falling and crosswinds of up to 40 MPH (64 KPH).

    Delta Airlines has confirmed it is aware of reports one of its planes flying from Minneapolis to Toronto was involved in an incident.

    "Delta is aware of reports of Endeavor Flight 4819 operating from Minneapolis/St Paul to Toronto-Pearson International Airport as involved in an incident," it says in a statement.

    "We are working to confirm any details and will share the most current information on news.delta.com as soon as it becomes available."

    We've just received some pictures from the scene, which show the Delta Airlines plane resting on its roof.

    Fire trucks can be seen next to it, with a layer of snow covering the tarmac around the plane. It is missing at least one of its wings.

  4. Three people with critical injuries, medical transport service sayspublished at 20:56 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    Ornge, a medical transport service in Ontario, says it has transported three people with critical injuries to different hospitals, including a "paediatric patient" and a man in his 60s.

    It adds that three air ambulance helicopters and two of its "Critical Care Land Ambulances" were dispatched to the scene.

    The man in his 60s was taken to St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, while another patient was transported to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto.

  5. FAA says 80 people evacuated from crashed planepublished at 20:54 Greenwich Mean Time 17 February

    We've just received a statement from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which says all 80 people on board the plane were evacuated.

    "Delta Air Lines Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, crashed while landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada around 14:45 local time," the statement says, adding that the flight departed from Minneapolis.

    The FAA statements goes on to say the Transportation Safety Board of Canada will be in charge of the investigation.

    An association representing flight attendants in the US says it is responding to an incident in Toronto concerning Delta Air Lines Endeavor Flight 4819.

    In a post on X, the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA says its crew members were working on the flight.

    "Reports are there are no fatalities," it says, asking people not to speculate on the incident as everyone works to gather information and support those involved.

    "It is my understanding that most of the passengers are out and unharmed but we're still trying to make sure so we're still on scene investigating," says Constable Sarah Patten of the Peel Regional Police in Ontario.

    The police constable tells Reuters news agency that "we don't know the circumstances surrounding" the plane crash at the moment.

    As we've reported, just over half an hour ago Toronto Pearson International Airport confirmed there is an ongoing incident.

    Here is the statement they've issued on social media:

    "Toronto Pearson is aware of an incident upon landing involving a Delta Airlines plane arriving from Minneapolis. Emergency teams are responding. All passengers and crew are accounted for."
