The first minister responds saying his government will carefully consider the Climate Change Committee's report before publishing its proposed carbon budgets.

"We have got to take action to tackle climate change in our society," says John Swinney and pledges to meet the 2045 net-zero target.

Russell FIndlay gets to his feet and turns to the Climate Change Committee's report which sets out what the Scottish government must do to reach its net-zero target in 2045.

This would require an oil and gas reduction of 91%, he explains, which he says would devastate the industry.

It would also require half of all cars to be electric he adds and asks if John Swinney thinks the targets are realistic.

What can we expect from FMQs?published at 11:41 British Summer Time 29 May

    BBC Scotland political correspondent

It’s been a week without a big story driving the narrative at Holyrood.

So parties may well be tempted to look ahead to next Thursday’s by-election in Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by leaning into their favourite topics.

You can always make a pretty safe bet that Anas Sarwar will find a way to ask questions about NHS waiting lists; if in doubt, the Labour leader always hones in on health as his favourite case study of the SNP’s handling of public services.

Meanwhile John Swinney already has a backbench question lined up about the winter fuel payment, his favourite stick to beat the Labour UK government with.

The Conservatives meanwhile have made “common sense” their mantra, and Russell Findlay has been spending a lot of time talking about net zero.

On the environmental flip side, the Greens have a question this week too.

There was a protest outside Holyrood this morning about the proposed new resort at Loch Lomond – something the Greens have campaigned against, and which Patrick Harvie might choose to bring up with the first minister.

There has been plenty of campaigning ahead of next week's Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by-election and we can expect a fair amount of politicking at today's FMQs.

The result is keenly awaited as the vote takes place less than a year before the Scottish Parliament election.

You can see a list of all the by-election candidates here.

A controversial Reform UK advert about Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar - which Labour and the SNP have called "blatantly racist" - has dominated the headlines this week.

Elsewhere it emerged waits of more than two years for NHS specialist appointments and treatment in Scotland have grown in the past year, according to new figures.

Scotland's councils are facing a £647m budget shortfall this year despite an increase in government funding, according to the Accounts Commission.

And independent experts have proposed a new set of targets to tackle climate change in Scotland over the next 20 years.
