    The Northamptonshire Weather account on X has posted scenes of high water levels on the River Nene.

    "The River Nene in Northampton (as viewed from behind Morrisons Victoria Promenade) in full flood with fast flowing water this Monday morning."

  2. 'Swimming' pygmy goats among animals rescued from fieldpublished at 08:58 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November

    Two donkeys, eight or nine pygmy goats and two alpacas have been rescued from a flooded field in Nether Heyford.

    Lewis Deller said he was called to help a friend whose car was stuck in floodwater when he heard animal noises from a nearby field.

    "I had to rescue them," he told BBC Radio Northampton.

    "Unfortunately one had drowned...they were pygmy goats. They were pretty much swimming in the field they were in.

    “I managed to save eight of them with help from some other locals who managed to round them up and try and get them up on to some hard standing."

    Northamptonshire Police says several roads are closed due to "significant rainfall during Storm Bert".

    Drivers have been urged to only travel when necessary and avoid floodwater.

    The road closures are:

    • St Andrew’s Road and surrounding areas, Northampton

    • St James’ Park Road, along Victoria Park, Northampton

    • Areas of Dallington close to Dallington Brook, Geddington, Kettering

    • London Road/Bridge Street in Far Cotton

    • Bedford Road, Northampton

    Train services are not stopping at Northampton railway due to flooding.

    A spokesperson from London Northwestern Railway said on X, external: "Due to flooding at Northampton, services on the Birmingham - Northampton - Euston and Crewe - Rugby - Euston route are disrupted."

    The Environment Agency has issued a severe flood warning for the River Nene at Billing Aquadrome and nearby business parks.
