Lydney Town Football Club has been badly affected by the flooding after the pitch and clubhouse were completely submerged under water.

Director of football, Neil Hook, said: "In the last 30 odd years we've never seen nothing like this. It's never come into our club.

"It's devastating to be honest. It's a volunteer run club, we put so much effort into everything we do.

"People will rally round, but the damage it's caused and the cost, it's going to be unbelievable for the club to survive this."

The club's next game is against Thornbury but Mr Hook said that unless the water goes pretty quick "we won't be playing for a few weeks".

"We need as much money as possible to put the clubhouse right, we need to be open. Without the club not being open we're not making any money. We're in serious trouble to be honest."
