    The Israeli military says that two of its soldiers have been seriously injured in fighting in southern Lebanon this morning.

    In a statement the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) said a reservist and an officer, who are both from the 9220th Battalion, 6th Brigade, had been injured in separate combat incidents.

    It said that in addition “multiple soldiers were lightly and moderately injured” and that they had all been evacuated to hospital to receive medical treatment. The IDF statement did not mention the precise location of the incidents.

    Hezbollah, which is fighting the IDF in southern Lebanon released a statement saying they had inflicted casualties on Israeli forces early on Sunday morning near the village of Ramiya – which is very close to the border with Israel.

    The BBC has not been able to verify the details or confirm whether these statements refer to the same incident.

    The IDF has blown up a large site in Lebanon, including a mosque, just 200m (660ft) from the official border line.

    BBC Verify has found several copies of two videos from the area of Zahajra.

    The videos were originally posted by Amit Segal, an Israeli journalist and political commentator.

    They show two explosions that have destroyed the Ahel El-Quran Mosque, located south of the villages of Zahajra and Dhayra along the Israeli-Lebanese border, and surrounding buildings.

    Segal alleged that the site was part of the Hezbollah infrastructure and that they were linked to an attack that led to the death of three Israeli soldiers one year ago.

    Pope Francis has called for "respect" of United Nations (UN) peacekeepers after five members of the multinational force were injured in southern Lebanon.

    "I am close to all the people involved, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, where I ask that the UN peacekeepers be respected," the Pope said at the Vatican, according to AFP.

    "I once again call for an immediate ceasefire on all fronts that the paths of diplomacy and dialogue be pursued to achieve peace," he adds.

    Hezbollah says that its fighters have been involved in combat at point-blank range with Israeli troops in a village near the border with Israel.

    The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says that in addition to two severely wounded soldiers, many others have been evacuated to hospital with light and moderate injuries.

    The fighting in south Lebanon is intensifying, as Lebanese officials say that Israel has widened its target area in the country.

    The IDF says that it's carried out airstrikes on around two-hundred Hezbollah targets in the past twenty-four hours.

    In one incident, the Lebanese Red Cross says its volunteers suffered injuries as an Israeli strike hit a building they were searching for casualties in south Lebanon.

    The IDF has accused Hezbollah of using ambulances to transport weapons and fighters, without providing any evidence.

    Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called on the UN chief Antonio Guterres to remove peacekeeping forces in southern Lebanon "immediately".

    "Mr Secretary General, get the UNIFIL forces out of harm's way. It should be done right now, immediately," Netanyahu said in a video statement issued by his office.

    Earlier this month, Israel's Foreign Minister Israel Katz declared Guterres persona non grata following Iran's attack on Israel.

    The UK is among 40 nations to "strongly condemn" attacks on United Nations (UN) peacekeepers in Lebanon.

    On Thursday, two Indonesian peacekeepers were injured falling from an observation tower after Israeli tanks fired towards it.

    On Friday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged that its troops were responsible for an incident in which two Sri Lankan soldiers, in Naqoura, were injured and that it would be investigated.

    And the United Nations, on Saturday, said another peacekeeper was injured by gunfire in the south on Friday, though added it did not know the origin of the fire.

    In a joint statement posted on X, external by the Polish UN mission, the countries say attacks on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil) "must stop immediately and should be adequately investigated".

    "We consider Unifil's role as particularly crucial in light of the escalating situation in the region," the statement adds.

    The Israel’s Defence Forces (IDF) says it has found an "underground tunnel opening" used by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

    It says the tunnel led to an "underground compound" around 7 meters deep, and a member of Hezbollah has been detained.

    Here in northern Israel the sound overhead of jets and helicopters is a near constant presence.

    Alerts continue to flash on phones and sirens blare – as people head to shelters.

    Though the IDF is now on the ground inside southern Lebanon – just a few kilometres from us – its stated aim is to destroy Hezbollah infrastructure and ammunition stores near the border to allow displaced people to return.

    So the rockets have kept flying. The IDF said there were 320 on Saturday. Their range means that Hezbollah rockets can be fired from further back from the contact line – so stopping that threat is much harder.

    Though it can’t prevent them being launched - most of the rockets are either being intercepted by the IDF’s Iron Dome defences or allowed to fall away from population centres.

    Israeli warplanes hit a marketplace in the southern city of Nabatiyeh on Saturday, and then a 100-year-old mosque in a village near the border on Sunday, according to Lebanon's official National News Agency (NNA).

    Israel’s military says it intercepted around five projectiles fired from Lebanon on Sunday.

    Sirens could be heard in several areas of Israel this morning, including in the northern city of Haifa.

    The Lebanese Red Cross says its ambulance teams were sent to Sirbine in southern Lebanon, following an air strike this morning.

    It says volunteers were "lightly injured" , externalduring the rescue operation - when the area was hit for a second time.

    "Lebanese Red Cross volunteers should be protected at all times while attempting to rescue casualties," the statement adds.

    In the Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says it has killed "dozens of terrorists", external in the last day, attacking around "40 targets".

    The IDF says it located "explosives", "weapons" and "grenades" in Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip.

    The military says a launcher was attacked, external that targeted Ashkelon, in southern Israel, yesterday.

    A week ago, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) began another offensive in Jabalia in the northern Gaza Strip, moving in with tanks, saying Hamas attempted to “restore” its infrastructure there.

    Palestinian health officials estimate that 150 people have been killed there over the past week - with residents saying the Israeli military has encircled Jabalia and ordered them to leave via one corridor.

    The military has told people to evacuate areas in the north where the United Nations has previously estimated more than 400,000 people are trapped, external.

    We're re-starting our live coverage, as the Reuters news agency reports at least 29 people have been killed in Israeli air strikes in the central and northern Gaza Strip on Saturday and overnight, citing medics.

    The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) began another offensive in Jabalia a week ago, saying Hamas attempted to “restore” its infrastructure there.

    An estimated 150 Palestinians have been killed there over the past week, according to health officials in Gaza.

    Displaced people in the area say the Israeli military has encircled Jabalia and ordered them to leave via one corridor.

    In southern Lebanon, Hezbollah says it "clashed" with Israeli soldiers trying to move into Ramiya village, early on Sunday.

    In a series of updates within the last ten hours, the Lebanese health ministry says 15 people were killed in three Israeli attacks yesterday on Deir Bella, Al Maaysra and Barja.

    In Israel, the IDF says Hezbollah launched around 320 projectiles from Lebanon into Israel on Saturday.
