  1. Singing (badly), girl power and a 'flat footed' jivepublished at 21:29 BST 25 October

Craig Revel Horwood strikes a pose dressed as a Beatles-era John Lennon, next to Motsi Mabuse as Grace Jones and Shirley Ballas as Elvis

Week five of Strictly is done and dusted, with the stars paying tribute to their favourite icons - some more successfully than others.

La Voix brought the laughs - belting out Cher's Believe before diving into a Salsa to Strong Enough. The judges noted there was room for improvement, but La Voix's charisma on the dancefloor was lauded.

Lewis Cope offered up some fiery footsteps to Ring of Fire. He and partner Katya scored the highest points of the night - a sizzling 34.

Despite some impressively garish trousers, YouTuber George Clarke hit a bum note with his Jive to Harry Styles' As It Was. Craig, acerbic as ever, called it "flat footed", and George and partner Alexis crashed out with the lowest score this evening - at 27.

The most mood-boosting dance of the night undoubedly (according to me) came from Ellie Goldstein and her partner Vito, who packed a punch with a dynamic Salsa to a Spice Girls medley. Ellie even got a heart-warming video message from her favourite Spice Girl, Baby.

Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly gave a quick nod to their impending exit from the show, with Claudia thanking viewers for their "beautiful messages".

We're wrapping up this weekend's live page, but we'll be back with more sparkles, pizzazz and a dash of spookyness next Saturday, as the couples gear up for the Halloween special.

    Have a fang-tastic week.

  2. Another special week set for next weekpublished at 20:56 BST 25 October

    Noor Nanji
    Culture reporter

Icons week isn’t Strictly’s only annual tradition.

Every year, there are a series of special shows that fans look forward to.

Others include Halloween week - which is next week - and there’s also Musicals week, where the couples perform routines inspired by hit musicals.

And of course, let’s not forget Blackpool week, which takes place in the famous Tower Ballroom.

For many Strictly celebs and professionals, getting to Blackpool week - which usually takes place around halfway through the competition - is a major goal.

  3. Who could step into Claudia and Tess' shoes - your thoughtspublished at 20:46 BST 25 October

Tess and Claudia, Strictly Come Dancing

We put out a call a little while ago, asking where you think Strictly might go as Tess and Claudia waltz off.

The suggestions and messages keep rolling in – here’s a taste of what you’ve had to say:

    Kath from Yorkshire:

"Claudia is my absolute hero/heroine. I love her hair and makeup but also her quick wit and ability to make people feel comfortable. I will miss her a lot."

    Jo from Winchester:

"La Voix to replace Tess as she's so quick-witted and funny. Alan Carr to replace Claudia - again witty, sharp, funny".

    DJ from Staffordshire:

"I think it’s a good time for a change on Strictly. New presenters could be Janette Manrara and Anton, Holly Willoughby and Matt Baker, Christine Lambert and Fleur East."

    Jane from Cardiff:

"Mel and Sue for the new Strictly duo please!"

    Andy from the West Midlands:

"Rob Rinder and Rylan Clark. Rob has been a previous contestant and has some experience of participating in the show. He is a voice of authority and respect. Having been Judge Rinder and a practicing lawyer. Rylan has a great sense of humour and is very witty. I am sure they would do great job."

"Thank you Strictly, let's close this Icons Week. Sing with me!"

La Voix takes on Cher's Believe before diving into a Salsa to Strong Enough.

There’s plenty of leaping about, 70s disco flair and some rather nifty footwork.

The comedy, the character, the charisma - all present and correct.

Motsi says this performance is "much better" than last week, urging La Voix to keep at it.

Shirley opens with, "it was definitely better than a two" - the score she handed out last week. She gives La Voix credit for picking it up and carrying on after a couple of wobbles.

Anton reckons the dance was great.

La Voix, who has already asked Claudia where "a friend" might send their CV for the Strictly presenting job to the BBC tonight, insists she can do Salsa hips.

But she was channelling Cher, who, as everyone knows, is well into her 70s. Not a bad comeback from the queen of comebacks.

Drumroll please… here are the scores:

    Craig: 6

    Motsi: 7

    Shirley: 7

    Anton: 8

    Total: 28

  7. Do you believe in La Voix and Aljaž after love?published at 20:07 BST 25 October

Drag performer La Voix found herself languishing at the bottom of last week's leaderboard, clocking up a rather underwhelming 14 points with her boxing-themed Cha Cha Cha.

Tonight, she’s back in the ring with a Salsa to Strong Enough by Cher - a tribute to someone who’s practically drag royalty.

But is La Voix strong enough to claw her way back up that leaderboard? Stay tuned.

  8. Jimmy wears an impressive wigpublished at 20:07 BST 25 October

    Amy Walker
    Live reporter

    Strictly come dancing

Jimmy emerges as Prince for an American Smooth to Purple Rain. The slower tempo has him gliding across the dancefloor, with the former striker doing his utmost to keep his frame together.

There's an impressive lift - Lauren goes airborne, not Jimmy - to round off the dance.

It all highlights just how much progress he has made over the series.

Anton is particularly taken with Jimmy's legs, declaring "all in all" he really enjoyed it.

Craig, predictably, has a few more gripes, suggesting Jimmy could have driven it a bit more.

Still, he praises Jimmy's timing and getting to see a different side of him.

And now, the moment of truth - here are the scores:

    Craig: 7

    Motsi: 8

    Shirley: 7

    Anton: 8

    Total: 30

  9. Jimmy and Lauren to make it (purple) rain with an American Smoothpublished at 19:58 BST 25 October

Strictly has a reputation for being tough on footballers, but former Chelsea and Leeds United player Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is rewriting the script - scoring 29 points last week.

This week, Jimmy and his partner Lauren are taking on the American Smooth, and they’re paying tribute to arguably the smoothest American of all time: Prince.

Their song choice tonight? Purple Rain.

  10. Amber lives her best life as Arianapublished at 19:57 BST 25 October

    Amy Walker
    Live reporter

    Strictly come dancing

After a few weeks of wrestling with her footwork, Amber throws herself into a tricky Cha Cha Cha to Ariana Grande.

Amber is an unapologetic Ariana superfan - she’s even donned a sparkly outfit worthy of the popstar herself, and, in case you missed it the first three times, she’s met Ariana.

Yes, really. On the dancefloor, Amber delivers high kicks, spins and holds, and her footwork is bang on.

Shirley says she would have liked to see "more straight legs", but gives Amber credit for how far she’s come.

Anton "absolutely loved it" but reckons Amber is in a "perpetual state of plié".

As someone whose own feet are mostly decorative, it all sounds rather technical to me.

Craig, meanwhile, gives her hip action a round of applause.

Let’s find out what the judges thought:

    Craig: 8

    Motsi: 8

    Shirley: 8

    Anton: 9

    Total: 33

  11. Amber and Nikita set to break freepublished at 19:49 BST 25 October

Actress and TV personality Amber Davies is tipping her hat to a fellow pocket rocket this week, dancing a Cha Cha Cha to Ariana Grande's Break Free.

Tally up the scores over the last four weeks and Amber, along with her partner Nikita, comes out on top.

Yet, despite pocketing 33 points last show, it still was not enough to clinch the top spot on the leaderboard.

Maybe a dose of Ariana will finally help her break free from her runner-up status?

  12. Harry and Karen have sparked divided opinions from the judgespublished at 19:49 BST 25 October

Harry and Karen take to the floor with an impressive Argentine Tango, hopping, popping, grinding, and finishing up on a velvet sofa.

It is smooth and fun, with Harry sneaking in some of Usher's signature gliding dance moves.

    Karen, in particular, shines.

But Craig is not impressed, suggesting Harry was "hammering it" - and not in a good way.

Motsi thinks he had control, though, and praises his courage and suave approach this week. "Just keep going," she says.

Anton is with Motsi: "I thought it was terrific."

    Here come the scores:

    Craig: 6

    Motsi: 9

    Shirley: 7

    Anton: 8

    Total: 30

  13. Yeah! It's time for Harry and Karen's Usher-themed Argentine Tangopublished at 19:38 BST 25 October

Olympian and Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey is no stranger to victory - but his journey so far has been bumpier than a ride on a space hopper.

Last week, he found himself languishing near the bottom, finishing fourth from last with just 26 points for his Rumba.

This week, Harry and his partner Karen are taking on the Argentine Tango to Caught Up by Usher.

Will he manage to catch up with the rest of the pack tonight?

  14. Judge Anton urges Balvinder to 'strive outside' her comfort zonepublished at 19:38 BST 25 October

Sporting a diamante cowboy hat and corset, Balvinder’s outfit tonight is enough to make Beyoncé herself green with envy.

She and Julian whirl around the floor, sneaking in some line dancing moves - yes, even a lasso flourish at the end - as they quickstep their way through Texas Hold ‘Em.

Balvinder gives it everything she’s got. Shirley’s impressed, but reckons the pair’s footwork in tandem could do with some polish.

Anton thinks Balvinder’s moves are a touch "hesitant" and urges her to “strive outside” her comfort zone a bit more.

The judges have spoken - here are the scores:

    Craig: 7

    Motsi: 7

    Shirley: 7

    Anton: 7

    Total: 28

  15. Dance-off survivor Balvinder and Julian return with a Beyoncé Quicksteppublished at 19:30 BST 25 October

EastEnders actor Balvinder Sopal has faced the dreaded dance-off for the last two weeks in a row.

But she’s a survivor, and she’s chosen a fitting icon for the occasion.

This week she’s dancing a Quickstep to Texas Hold ’Em by Beyoncé.

Balvinder and her partner Julian have a score of 28 to beat from last week.

Vicky and Kai launch themselves into the choreography for Cheryl’s 2009 hit Fight for This Love.

Iconic if you’re a millennial… but probably baffling if you’re not acquainted with this particular banger.

We’ve got military-style outfits, flames, and plenty of fierce arm-flailing.

Shirley says there’s "positivity from foot to foot", and calls it Vicky’s "best dance so far".

Motsi reckons Vicky must "really love" this song.

Cheryl has also sent a video message to Vicky: "You've been doing amazing - I'm very honored and humbled to be your chosen icon for this week."

The judges have spoken - here are the scores:

    Craig: 8

    Motsi: 8

    Shirley: 8

    Anton: 9

  17. Which icons are the judges?published at 19:22 BST 25 October

    Amy Walker

    Strictly come dancing

Allow us to take a very quick moment to talk about the judge's costume.

For icons week, Anton is a distractingly good David Bowie (in his Aladdin Sane) era, Motsi is Grace Jones and Shirley is Elvis.

While they all look great, I've just had to rewind to work out who Craig's supposed to be.

My latest guess was Janis Joplin. Alas, he is John Lennon.

  18. Couple's choice means freestylepublished at 19:17 BST 25 October

So Vicky and Kai are taking their couple's choice to Fight For This Love by Cheryl.

But what exactly does that mean?

Essentially, it means the couple can do a freestyle dance - no longer shackled to a particular style.

Many contestants seize the chance to pick a routine that reflects their background or personality.

  19. Vicky and Kai ready to fight for the Glitterball with their couple's choicepublished at 19:17 BST 25 October

Geordie Shore legend Vicky Pattison is up next.

This week she has got a couple's choice. Vicky has picked Fight For This Love, by Geordie icon Cheryl, as their song for the week.

She landed right in the middle of last week's leaderboard, racking up 29 points. Can she bring a bit more fight this week?

George and Alexis pull off some impressive footwork in their Jive to Harry Styles.

It's rhythmic, fast, enormous fun, and remarkably slick.

Craig, however, is not convinced. He calls it “flat footed” and highlights an issue with the circle chasses, though he does praise their presentation.

George, it must be said, is winning in the trouser department tonight, sporting white flares covered in hearts.

Shirley spots more mistakes in the pivots, but says they truly embodied the spirit of the dance.

    Let’s see how they did:

    Craig: 6

    Motsi: 7

    Shirley: 6

    Anton: 8
