    At least five people were on board the helicopter, including three children and two adults, the BBC's US partner CBS News reports.

    They add that at least two people have been pulled from the water, with sources that spoke to CBS saying one was a child.

    A Hudson County official says the other is the pilot. We don't have information yet about their condition.

    As we reported a short while ago, at least one person has been confirmed dead.

    According to flight tracking website FlightRadar, it appears the helicopter involved in the crash was in the air for 15 minutes.

    The tracking site adds in a post on X, , externalalongside a graphic of the flight path, the helicopter appears to have taken off from the New York Downtown Manhattan Heliport.

    The aircraft seems to be a Bell 206L-4 LongRanger IV which has a private owner, the post adds. This is a single engine turbine helicopter that can typically accommodate seven passengers.

    I'm currently at the top of the World Trade Center, and what’s happening in the river has caught a lot of tourists' attention here, most people have come to one side of the tower to look down onto the Hudson River.

    There are about a dozen various boats all surrounding one of the piers on the New Jersey side of the River Hudson, while on the Manhattan side directly across there are swarms of flashing lights from emergency service vehicles.

    And now weather conditions are starting to worsen with a small bit of snow.
