Having been the most un-Leedsy-like ending to a season which saw promotion won with two games to spare, they made it very Leedsy-like by creating jeopardy on the last day of the campaign by leaving it until the last knockings to deliver the crowning glory with a late goal to clinch the title.

The protracted celebrations over a fortnight have been something the most decadent days of Rome would have been proud of.

It's nothing less than everyone connected with the club has deserved.

Also, this triumph, secured at Home Park with a starting eleven without any players from the 2020 promotion squad can maybe allow everybody to move on from the brilliant Bielsa era, which will remain venerated and unique, and will allow Farke and his successors to be measured without comparison.

Lifelong Leeds fan Ken Richardson, 70, is expecting a "very busy" day on his Leeds United memorabilia stall - and he can't wait for it.

"We have been waiting so long for this. Covid didn't help last time, but this time we are going to really enjoy it."

Ken has tipped the Whites to thrive upon their return to the top flight.

"We definitely won't come down. We will be halfway next season and the year after we will be a bit more.

"It's like a ladder until we are at the top. Move over Liverpool!"

If you are following at home or out on the streets of Leeds today, here's the expected timings - as ever, things can change though!

The bus carrying the team and staff is expected to arrive at City Square at about 13:00 BST.

That's expected to be one of the main rallying points and huge crowds are expected.

The vehicle will then head along Boar Lane to the Corn Exchange, up past the market and will turn onto The Headrow at Vicar Lane.

It will then move along until the procession reaches the area around the city's Town Hall and art gallery - which is pictured above at about 09:00 this morning but is expected to be packed, before heading off.

The whole event should last about 90 minutes.

Good afternoon and welcome to our coverage of the Leeds United promotion parade.

It comes after the Whites clinched the Championship title on Saturday with an extra time winner against Plymouth.

The south coast city was turned in a sea of white and yellow by ecstatic Leeds fans who had flocked to cheer their team on.

The thousand who headed south will be dwarfed by the numbers expected on the streets of the city today with tens of thousands expected to line the route to roar approval for their heroes.
