Live reporter, probably a nervous faithful

Last night's episode had us at the edge of our seats, as the closing shots saw faithful Frankie sit opposite Charlotte the traitor - about to reveal all.

Frankie has just found out the truth, the moment of silence was deafening. "Oh my god, it's quite difficult.A shock to my heart," she says, tearfully.

Charlotte says, in defence: "This stays in this room, the game continues."

Minah Shannon is considered by many fans as “an icon” for her performance in the show this year.

Playing as a Traitor, Minah pulled off some masterful murders, going undetected for much of the series before being banished earlier this week.

“It was nice to be myself and people actually like you,” she told BBC Newsbeat.

"I haven't seen any negative stuff. To be a villain in a show and still celebrated is actually really lovely."

She says she has no regrets recruiting Charlotte to be a Traitor, even though she eventually turned on Minah and voted her out.

“Picking Charlotte when I picked it was me using my head not my heart. Strategically I thought she was strongest and she's an epic Traitor,” she says.

Dr Kasim "Kas" Ahmed parting words won widespread admiration from fans and has been one of the moments of the series.

After being banished, Kas made others think he was about to admit to being a traitor before pivoting to the truth – that he was indeed a faithful.

"When it came to it I was like, 'Oh, God, I don't know if I can do this," he told Asian Network News.

And Kas, from Cambridge, who has returned to shifts in the A&E department since filming the show, feels being a doctor may have worked against him – in particular his calm demeanour.

"I'm used to being in high-pressure situations and just being able to be myself, because you learn how to develop yourself and how to maintain your composure.

"But everyone else wasn't used to dealing with it,” he says.

  8. 'The biggest test for the faithfuls will be the twist in the final'published at 20:25 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January

    Joe
    Faithful, Series 3

Everything was bigger and better than I expected. Surprises came from the start, with the train journey that caught us all off guard. From before we even got to the castle the game had begun, and it set the tone for the rest of the game.

I just loved that it was a real life murder mystery, and I wanted to take part of it. It just looked really fun.

The biggest test yet of the series will probably be the twist in the final. Without the reassurance of knowing that the person you've banished is a faithful or a traitor, it's going to be really difficult for the finalists.

My game plan as a faithful was to just try and make connections, because even if I've befriended a traitor, then they might keep me in. I also planned to try and not to be too vocal, which I ended up being anyway.

Controversially, my favourite mission was the Viking boat, it created such an argument after and it still was getting brought up at later round tables. But to me, that is what the traitors is about.

I didn't think Charlotte could be a traitor, the only time me and Frankie discussed her we said, could she be one? It felt blasphemous even saying it.

For future traitors and faithfuls on the show, I would advise them to maybe play devil's advocate.

  11. 'Uncaged': Alexander's journey on The Traitorspublished at 20:17 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January

A banner showing a picture of Alexander from the traitors, with his name in text and Faithful written beneath it

"One thing life teaches you is you don't really know until you get there." Alexander's prediction before the series couldn't be a better summary of his journey, which was cut short when he got off the train in episode one, only to re-enter later down the line after being released from a dangling cage in the woods.

If that wasn't enough of a surprise for him, an intense "death match" card game saw him escape without being murdered by the traitors, but he was left stranded in a coffin in the middle of a lake.

He's survived numerous banishments, despite facing some heat at the table, and has secured his spot in the final without being murdered by the traitors.

In the missions, one of his performances stands out above all the others - Alexander's operatic singing of absolute gibberish outside a creepy-looking dolls house is a moment that has left an impact on fans of the show.

In the dinner party, after faithful Leon's banishment, Alexander opened up about the loss of his brother and if he wins the prize money he will be giving a portion of it to a charity called The Royal Mencap Society.

  12. 'Charlotte's Welsh accent isn't the best' - former faithful-turned-traitor Andrewpublished at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January

Andrew Jenkins in a white hoody

Season two Welsh faithful-turned-traitor Andrew Jenkins says the finalists will be "playing so many different plans in their head" ahead of final.

He also says he could probably tell that Charlotte's welsh accent isn't real if he was in the castle with her, claiming it "isn't the best".

"Everything you see is real, which is why it makes such amazing telly," Andrew says, admitting that he's watching this year's season with "a lot of empathy and a different perspective".

  13. 'The Seer': Frankie's journey on The Traitorspublished at 20:15 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January

Banner showing picture of Francesca from the Traitors, with her name written in text and Faithful written beneath that

"You shouldn’t be too inquisitive or domineering so people don't think they’ve got to get rid of you." Frankie's words before the start of this series have served her well as a faithful, as she's made it to the final.

Her approach hasn't been overly accusatory, and she has been able to make connections with other contestants - so much so that theories were thrown out by some fans that she is not Freddie's mum. But unlike Diane and Ross last year, there was no reveal of a secret mum and son pairing.

"I won’t be too loud, but I also won’t be completely quiet." Frankie's strategy may have been part of the reason that she was voted "most irrelevant" in the chess-themed mission, a vote that actually proved to be a contributing factor to traitor Minah's downfall.

She earned the role of "The Seer" in last night's episode, and made the ultimate gameplay by choosing traitor Charlotte to reveal her identity in the game, which has left fans on tenterhooks ahead of tonight's final episode.

If she were to win the prize money tonight, Frankie says: "I would put it towards my boys, who are the motivations of my life."

  14. Clients ask me for 'The Traitors look' - Claudia Winkleman's stylistpublished at 20:14 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January

A lot of Claudia's outfits are sourced from high-street stores, her stylist says

I caught up with Sinead Mckeefry, Claudia Winkleman's stylist, ahead of tonight's final. As a lover of wearing big thick knits around a campfire, Mckeefry calls the job on The Traitors "a total dream".

What is the thought process behind Claudia's outfits?

For the breakfast scene it's a much more heritage look, while the roundtable scene uses more velvets and blazers, a bit more slim line and mysterious. I feed off that really dark and dramatic vibe, and usually start with the statement pieces and build around them.

Were the red leather fingerless gloves always planned?

I think production were really clever to suggest making them a part of Claudia's style, because that iconic look for the murder every night is just so strong - and it wouldn't be the same without it. The pair she's got she's worn for three series, so I'm treating her to a new pair for the next series - they're also only £25 from a well-know retailer.

How much does the landscape and castle play into those outfit choices?

Oh, 100%. I have private clients that say to me, "I want to get the traitors look". The dramatic landscape allows me to do an elevated version of the heritage look.

Given their focus on the dark and dramatic landscape, the looks might not translate perfectly into your work environment or daily wardrobe - but you can definitely take certain statement pieces from the outfits and match it with a pair of jeans.

What's it like working so closely with Claudia?

It's a complete collaboration. Claudia will send me things, I'll send her things. We laugh because if it's like a total yes we get so excited, or if it's a no, we just ignore each other. But neither of us are precious. Because I work with her for Strictly Come Dancing, I know what she likes and we trust each other.

  15. 'A military mindset': Leanne's journey on The Traitorspublished at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January

Banner showing picture of The Traitor's contestant Leanne, with her name in writing and Faithful written beneath

"I'm a good judge of character. I really trust my gut." Leanne, a through and through faithful, has said from day one that she will be "on the lookout" for traitorous behaviour.

She's made it to the final, having survived some heat on her at numerous round tables and has avoided being murdered - with the help of two shields.

Accusations flew early on that she was part of a clique, but she has developed friendships with many of the contestants and hasn't been afraid to cast suspicion on her closest allies - think Freddie and Minah.

The only lie Leanne has told this series is about her occupation, she is an army veteran posing as a nail technician.

"I feel like it would put me at a bit of a disadvantage to divulge my previous job because people are automatically going to assume anyone in the military is smart and strategic."

If Leanne, and the faithfuls, take the prize money home tonight, she "would love to go through IVF again to make our family a bit bigger".

  17. 'A traitorous twist': Charlotte's journey on The Traitorspublished at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January

Banner with picture of Charlotte from the Traitors, with her name in text and traitor written below it

"I think I'll have such a thrill if I'm a Traitor." Although she began the game as a faithful, Charlotte is stepping into tonight's final as the last remaining traitor - after she was brought into the "sisterhood" by Minah.

A switch in roles late on in the game led to Charlotte's betrayal of two fellow traitors, Minah and Freddie. She said before the show that being a traitor "would be a fine art to play", and in this game she's proven herself to be quite the Picasso.

In last night's dramatic revelation we last saw Charlotte sitting across from Frankie, who became The Seer, as she was about to spill all on her traitorous truth.

She'll have to reveal her true identity to her friend Frankie, as a traitor, but that's not the only part of herself she's been keeping on the hush hush this series. Putting on a Welsh accent from the start, Londoner Charlotte has been altering her accent to seem "more trustworthy". Only time will tell if that has paid off.

If she, as the sole traitor going into the final, was to bag the prize money - Charlotte would spend her winnings on fertility treatment and potentially a Safari holiday.

  18. How it feels when a traitor betrays a fellow traitorpublished at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January

    Paul
    Traitor, Series 2

What happened with Minah is exactly what happened to me last season. I recruited the wrong person, and I went the next day.

But the moment season two’s winner, Harry, turned on me - it was electric. I loved it. Maybe I'm a bit of a masochist, but it was.

I felt removed from myself because I had this villainous character, and he was taking me down.

I remember trying to divert the attention to [season two faithful] Jaz, and it was half working and half not working. So I kept feeling like I was wriggling free. And it was just magnificent, it was beautiful.

I was so proud of [season two winner and traitor] Harry, and he did such a great job. I would never, ever just then turn it back on someone because they came for me. It just doesn't feel in the spirit of the game.

He got me. He had evidence, so I just took it and left.

  19. 'Traitor hunter': Jake's journey on The Traitorspublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January

Banner showing picture of Jake from The Traitors with his name in text and Faithful written underneath it

"I do feel like there are certain signs that you can pick up on with people even if you have only known someone for a couple of hours." Jake's words before the series even started speak volumes on his performance on the show.

From the very first episode, he set his sights firmly on Linda after she turned her head when Claudia said "traitors". Sticking to his theory for days on end, he was an instrumental player in her eventual banishment.

He's been a trusted voice amongst the players, and has secured his role in the eyes of the other contestants as a 100% faithful.

One of the most touching moments this series was when Jake opened up to Alexander about his cerebral palsy, having said previously: "I've never let it stop me from achieving my goals".

If he wins the prize money, he says he would treat his wife, mum and dad to a nice big holiday to "just show my appreciation of them, for everything they’ve done for me".
