It is unclear what this press conference will be about, but former President Donald Trump has directed much of his anger at ABC News in the days since his debate against Kamala Harris in Philadelphia.

He and his allies have accused the network of being unfair and biased in favour of Harris, going as far as to suggest that ABC provided the Harris campaign questions ahead of time.

In a lengthy post on his Truth Social social media account, Trump also said that debate moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis were "nasty and rude" and made "statements they knew were false".

Trump went on to say that "no politician should ever do a debate with ABC News".

For what it is worth, Trump announced yesterday that he won't do another debate - on any network.

At a rally in Arizona, Trump told his supporters that he won't participate in another debate after he many said he struggled in Tuesday's event.

Meanwhile, Harris told her supporters in North Carolina that "we owe it to the voters to have another debate", as her campaign pushes for the two presidential candidates to face off on stage again.

Republicans are complaining about what they say was the favouritism the ABC moderators, David Muir and Linsey Davis, showed toward Harris at the debate Tuesday night. Both of them pushed back and fact-checked assertions made by Trump on several occasions.

In the end, however, it was Trump’s responses and eagerness to take and devour whatever bait Harris set out for him that was the story of the evening.

And that played out in the faces of the two candidates. Whenever her opponent was talking, Harris took on a studied look of bemusement or incredulity. Trump, for his part, mostly scowled.

Up until now, the Harris campaign had been coy about whether she would agree to another debate. Almost immediately after this one ended, they called for a second presidential debate before November.

That alone should indicate how well the Democrats think Tuesday night went for Harris.

Kamala Harris and her running mate, Tim Walz, had a busy campaign schedule in a number of battleground states following Tuesday night's presidential debate.

Their so-called "New Way Forward" tour began with back-to-back rallies by Harris in two of North Carolina's biggest cities, Charlotte and Greensboro.

Democrats have not won the state in a presidential race since 2008, but Harris is polling competitively against Donald Trump and spoke to more than 25,000 people on Thursday, hitting her Republican rival on his "concepts of a [healthcare] plan" and other panned debate lines.

Walz visited all-important Michigan on Thursday, where he held a campaign rally in Grand Rapids and will attend another event in Lansing before travelling to Mosinee, Wisconsin.

Their spouses are also on the trail, with Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff in Arizona and Nevada, and Gwen Walz rallying fellow educators in New Hampshire.

Harris is scheduled to hold a rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on Friday, while her spouse rallies supporters on Republican turf, in Mississippi and Florida.

  6. Debate brings some undecided voters closer to a decisionpublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 13 September 2024

The candidates have less than two months left to make their cases to American voters. Did Tuesday's debate change any undecided voters' opinions? The BBC spoke to a few - some of whom are now closer to making up their minds.

Vanessa Pierce, 33, from Wisconsin, was leaning towards Donald Trump before the debate and still feels that way, although she is now "less fearful" if Harris wins.

"I do not want to vote for Trump, but I do not like this current administration," she said.

Jeremy Peterson, 26, from Utah, didn't vote for the Democrats at the last two elections, but says Harris has his support following the debate.

"Tonight was the first night where genuinely I would say I felt... scared at the prospect of a second Trump presidency," he said.

But for some voters, like Chance Phillips from Arkansas, the debate didn't shift the dial either way. He wanted to hear more policy discussion, rather than personal attacks.

Donald Trump has been busy ahead of today's press conference at the Trump National Golf Course in the Los Angeles suburb of Rancho Palos Verdes.

Yesterday, Trump delivered remarks at a rally at the Tucson Music Hall in Arizona in which he unveiled a new economic policy that would end taxes on overtime pay, voiced concerns over immigration and mocked his electoral opponent - Kamala Harris.

In the evening, the former president attended a private fundraising event in Los Angeles, with the price to attend reportedly starting at $3,300 (£2,510), with other attendees paying up to $50,000 for a photo opportunity and to attend.

According to local media reports, attendees could also pay $125,000 to be included as a co-host of the event. Serving as a member of the event's host committee cost $250,000.

After today's news conference, Trump is expected to head north to Woodside, California - in the Bay Area - to attend another fundraiser, this time hosted by billionaire software developer Tom Siebel and his wife.

The Los Angeles Times has reported that tickets for the event cost up to $500,000 per couple.

Former President Donald Trump is scheduled to give a press conference at his golf club outside of Los Angeles at the top of the hour. It comes just one day after he announced he would not attend another presidential debate.

The Republican candidate for president was in California for a fundraiser last night, and he will be speaking to the press just days after he debated Kamala Harris - his Democratic opponent.

Despite polls suggesting and pundits arguing that Trump's performance was poor, the former president has declared victory and said that is a reason why he will not face Harris again on a debate stage.

It is unclear what this upcoming press conference will be about, but we will find out shortly.

Stay tuned for the last news and analysis.
