Cameron, from East Kilbride, received an email at 08:10 that was blank in the section where his results should be.

He says: “It’s making me feel more nervous. When I saw it at first I thought I’d got no qualifications. It’s making me feel quite upset to be honest”.

  9. How will the new exams body differ from the current SQA?published at 08:37 British Summer Time 6 August

Back to that Good Morning Scotland interview with Education Secretary Jenny Giilruth...

The questions turn to the SQA exams body and the fact the Scottish government announced it was being scrapped three years ago.

The exams body is going to be changed to Qualifications Scotland from next autumn, but how will it differ from the SQA?

Jenny Gilruth says it's really important that education reform is used as "an opportunity to transform Scotland's educational landscape".

The education secretary highlights the impact of the pandemic and she stresses the importance of the new qualifcations body working with teachers and supporting Scotland's young people.

She says she is bringing forward legislation to replace the SQA during the next parliamentary session.

  10. Are exams back to normal after the pandemic?published at 08:29 British Summer Time 6 August

Jenny Gilruth has been telling BBC News that, in Scotland, exams have largely returned to the pre-pandemic norm.

Let's take a closer look at that.

In music, practical exams - which include performances - went to back to pre-pandemic performance times for the first time.

But some adjustments have been kept.

The National 5 English course previously saw pupils submit two pre-prepared pieces of work to the SQA. During the pandemic this was changed to one piece of work produced in a controlled environment - a change the SQA have now implemented permanently.

Education Secretary Jenny Gilruth tells the Good Morning Scotland programme she has seen this year's full exam results, but explains she can't discuss them until 09.30 today when they are officially published.

"First and foremost I want to say a huge congratulations to Scotland's young people this morning," she says.

Gilruth also wishes those waiting for their exam results in the post the very best of luck.

She says this year is the first year we've seen the full return to the qualification requirements that existed before the pandemic.

The education secretary says pupils have shown "remarkable resilience" throughout the Covid disruption.

  12. 'I'm just hoping for the best'published at 08:05 British Summer Time 6 August

Lauren Anderson, a pupil at Larbert High School, told BBC Radio’s Good Morning Scotland she was hoping to get good grades to eventually study politics at university.

“For the most part my exams were ok,” she said. “I had a couple that were right after each other which was a bit of a struggle.”

Like Lauren, Amy Murray - who has just finished her fifth year at Airdrie Academy - opted to get her results in the mail instead of over text first thing in the morning.

“I think my exams results are too big a thing to just receive over a little text in the morning,” said Amy. “That’s way too anticlimactic.”

Amy told BBC Scotland that she would be the first member of her family to go to university if she got the marks she needed to study English literature.

“I am nervous but I’m just telling myself there’s nothing I can do to change the results now,” she said. “I’m just trying to hope for the best.”
