    As we mentioned in the post below, large parts of Wales are currently under either a flood warning or flood alerts.

    Natural Resources Wales, external has issued 48 warnings and 58 alerts so far today, with the most concerning conditions in the southeast of the nation.

    Around 10,000 people across Rhondda Cynon Taf have been advised to boil their tap water after Welsh Water "identified an issue with quality of water" at Tynywaun water treatment works.

    A Met Office warning for heavy rain is in place across a swathe of Wales until 13:00 GMT.

    There are currently more than 1,300 properties without power, according to the National Grid, external and Traffic Wales says a number of roads have been shut down because of flooding or fallen trees.

    Good morning and welcome back as we resume our coverage of the current wave of bad weather affecting the country.

    The Met Office currently has six yellow weather warnings in place for the UK, including two for rain in areas that already experienced snowing and heavy rainfall due to Storm Bert yesterday.

    Homes and roads have been flooded in Wales, and thirteen regions are currently under a weather warning as forecasters expect up to 25mm of extra rain to fall today.

    There are dozens of flood warnings and alerts in place across the nation, with Rhondda Cynon Taf council declaring a major incident due to "significant flooding" across the county.

    The East Midlands, east of England, London and the southeast are under a yellow wind warning as are the Highlands and Strathclyde in Scotland and the entirety of Northern Ireland.

    Storm Bert has brought heavy snowfall, rain and winds across the UK. As we end our coverage for the evening, let's remind ourselves what's happened today:

    • A man has died after a tree fell on his car in Hampshire. The incident happened on the A34 southbound carriageway, between Kings Worthy and Winnall, before 08:00 this morning
    • The number of flood warnings and alerts has risen to over 150 across England, Scotland and Wales. The Environment Agency is monitoring the River Calder around Hebden Bridge and Todmordem
    • National Grid says over 2,000 buildings in England and Wales are still without electricity
    • A "multi-agency search and rescue operation" has been under way at a river in Sidmouth in Devon, after concerns were reported about an object in the water
    • The Met Office has put seven yellow wind and rain warnings in place. There are eight in place across the UK on Sunday

  4. Network 'restored to full complement' - Lothian Busespublished at 17:51 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    Earlier we reported that Lothian Buses had resumed running services after heavy snow forced buses to stop running.

    The company confirms the network is now fully back in operations.

    "Out network has now been restored to full complement, and we sincerely thank all our customers who’ve been impacted today for their patience and understanding," it says in a statement shared on X.

    There are currently eight yellow weather warnings in place by the Met Office on Sunday, as Storm Bert continues to cause disruption across the UK.

    There's three yellow wind warnings tomorrow, covering areas in northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands, Eilean Siar, Strathclyde, south-east and south-west England and Wales.

    And there's five yellow rain warnings tomorrow, covering areas in south-east, south-west and north-west England, the west and east Midlands, Wales, Yorkshire and the Humber and parts of central, Tayside and Fife regions of Scotland, as well as Grampian, south-west Scotland and the Lothian Borders.

  6. Thousands still without power in Wales, southern and central Englandpublished at 17:37 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    Earlier today, we reported nearly 3,000 buildings across southern and western Wales as well as England were experiencing power cuts because of Storm Bert.

    In its latest update on X, National Grid thanks its customers for their patients are their teams "work tirelessly in challenging conditions to restore power".

    Their power cuts map shows supply issues are now affecting 1,774 households and businesses in Wales.

    Another 1,073 premises are without power in southwest England, while 804 are experiencing power outages across the East and West Midlands.

  7. More flood warnings issued as river levels rise in West Yorkshirepublished at 17:21 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    Throughout the day we’ve been updating you on a series offlood warnings and flood alerts issued in response to heavy rain brought in by Storm Bert.

    The Environment Agency is currently monitoring the River Calder around Hebden Bridge and Todmordern.

    Flooding is possible in central Todmorden when levels exceed 2.05m while in Hebden Bridge flooding is possible when they exceed 2.75m, the Agency said.

    “Our focus of attention is the Calder Valley, where flood warnings have been issued and sirens sounded,” they add.

    The A646 Halifax Road, outside Hebden Bridge, was closed in both directions due to flooding around Callis Bridge.

  8. Northern Ireland braces for more strong winds tomorrowpublished at 17:09 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    Storm Bert has not finished with us yet. A fresh batch of strong winds will develop on Sunday and the Met Office has issued a yellow warning for strong winds, valid from 11:00 to 18:00 GMT on Sunday.

    There was a significant reduction in the wind on Saturday afternoon, but they will freshen again overnight.

    The earlier heavy rain combined with snow melt has led to flooding in many areas as rivers burst their banks. Flooding will continue to be a hazard as snow melt feeds down into the river network.

    According to the Met Office: "Strong south-westerly winds are expected to develop during Sunday morning across Northern Ireland.

    "Gusts of 45-55 mph are expected widely with gusts of up 65 mph possible over hills and exposed locations around the coast."

    The top wind gusts will be similar to those of Saturday and therefore could cause some further damage and disruption.

  11. Locals concerned after landslide triggers emergency operationpublished at 16:32 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    A little earlier we reported 10 people, including five children, were rescued after a landslide in Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog, Wales.

    BBC Radio Wales reporter Nathan Archer has just spoken to the owner of the local pub, Jonathan Greatorex, who says everyone has now been evacuated.

    But there are concerns the persistent bad weather might trigger another landslide.

    Police have closed off the area around the landslide, Greatorex adds.

    Storm Bert has played havoc with Saturday football in Scotland.

    Highland and Lowland league fixtures were wiped out and just one game went ahead in the Championship - Ayr United vs Dunfermline Athletic.

    Scottish Premiership games kicked off late, with Rangers vs Dundee United just before 16:00.

    United boss Jim Goodwin said the team attempted to set off from Dundee early at 09:30 to make the roughly two-hour trip to Glasgow, but they didn't get to Ibrox until seconds before the 15:00 kick off.

    Accidents and poor road conditions had held up their journey.

    St Mirren's game against Aberdeen started an hour late to allow time for the pitch in Paisley to be cleared of snow.

    There was a wee snowball fight between the opposing fans before the match.

    Here's the latest headlines:

    • A man in his 60s has died in Hampshire after a tree fell on his car on the A34 early this morning
    • Storm Bert is continuing to hit the UK with snow, heavy rain and strong winds, causing disruption on roads and railways, as well as power cuts
    • Five adults and five children have been rescued after a landslide in Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog, near Llangollen in Wales
    • An amber warning for snow in Scotland has now been lifted, but yellow warnings for snow, wind, and rain remain in place
    • Lothian buses are running again in Edinburgh after being suspended
    • There have been gusts of wind of up to 105mph on the Cairngorm mountain tops recorded and 82mph at lower levels
    • The storm has been described as a multi-hazard event, with snow followed by warm air moving northwards which will see some high winds

    Many parts of the UK have been grappling with strong winds in the wake of Storm Bert, which has triggered yellow wind warnings in Scotland, England and Wales.

    Even away from the mountain tops, some very high gusts have been recorded, according to the Met Office.

    • Capel Curig in Wales: 82mph
    • The Needles in England: 76mph
    • Berry Head in England: 69mph
    • St Bees Head in England: 68mph
    • Tiree in Scotland: 67mph
    • Brizlee Wood in England: 67mph

    As a reminder, currently there's a yellow wind warning , externalin place in parts of Scotland from 05:00 to 17:00 today, and another one covering parts of southern England and Wales between 09:00 today and 21:00 tomorrow.

  15. Ten rescued after landslide in Walespublished at 15:42 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    Five adults and five children have been rescued after a landslide in Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceiriog, near Llangollen. The emergency was raised just before 2pm this afternoon.

    Two pumps from Wrexham, one from Johnstown, one from Llangollen and one from Ruthin are still at the scene.

    Material from higher ground has fallen around the property, said a spokesperson for North Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

  16. Witness appeal as man dies after tree crashes onto carpublished at 15:40 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    Earlier we reported a man had died after a tree crashed into a car on the A34 this morning.

    Hampshire Police has now launched an appeal for witnesses and dash cam footage.

    "We would now like to speak to anyone with information about this incident and particularly anyone with relevant dash cam footage," they say in a statement.

  17. Three people rescued from vehicle on Isle of Manpublished at 15:33 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    Fire crews have rescued three people trapped in their vehicle after flood waters rose on a road on the Isle of Man.

    The Isle of Man Rescue Service said in a post on Facebook that it had been responding to several flooding incidents across the island in the wake of heavy rainfall and rising water levels.

    It urged people to limit non-essential travel.

    "Please do not drive through flood water, as even shallow water can be extremely dangerous," it says.

    Flood sirens have sounded in the Calder Valley, West Yorkshire.

    Four flood warnings have been issued along the River Calder, including at Hebden Bridge and Todmorden.

    The Environment Agency says river levels are likely to keep rising until 16:00 GMT in some parts, with people in the affected areas advised to consider moving household valuables upstairs.

    "Environment Agency teams are out on the ground, clearing grids and checking flood defence assets to ensure they're ready to respond if needed", an Environment Agency spokesperson says.

    “Minor impacts” are possible in other parts of Yorkshire, the spokesperson adds.

  19. MSP reports bus went off-road in central Scotlandpublished at 15:24 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    The Stirling MSP Evelyn Tweed took to Facebook to ask people to stay at home this morning.

    The SNP MSP said she was aware of a number of traffic incidents including a bus leaving the road at Buchlyvie, a village in the Stirling council area.

    The MSP also reported that a car and a gritter had an accident at Aberfoyle.

  20. Lothian Buses reinstating servicespublished at 15:13 Greenwich Mean Time 23 November

    City of Edinburgh Council has said Lothian Buses has started to reinstate its services.

    It suspended services due to the weather.

    The council said Edinburgh Trams have been running a seven minute service throughout the disruption and has been accepting bus tickets.
